About a Make Do & Mend Quilt Kit

Our kits are designed to be deceptively simple. If you can sew a simple running stitch in a straight-ish line you can make a beautiful quilt – we promise!

These kits are suitable for all levels of sewing ability, and come with detailed and easy to follow instructions. They can be sewn by hand or machine.

A Make Do & Mend Kit is the perfect present for a ‘crafty’ friend, or make the quilt yourself as a gift for a new baby or small child.

The kit comes in a recycled brown card box, tied with ribbon and a hand stamped luggage label. The pre cut fabric is gift wrapped inside. Personalise your woven label and sew to your finished heirloom quilt.

The finished quilt is a versatile size, perfect for a baby or young child as a cot/bed quilt, comforter, wall hanging, travel blankie, or throw.

Each kit contains;

  • Materials to make an 80cm x 70cm approx quilt
  • All fabric for quilt top and appliqué, backing and binding
  • 100% unbleached, finest American pure cotton batting
  • ‘Freezer paper’ for tracing appliqué patterns
  • Easy step by step instructions fully illustrated to complete your quilt
  • A woven label reading ‘A Make Do & Mend Quilt’ for you to personalise
  • This box can be reused to gift your final quilt to its recipient; we designed it so that the finished quilt fits just right.
